What is Scouting

The Aim of Scouting New Zealand is to be the leading youth organization

Scouting is open to Boys and Girls from year 2 to year 13 (Approximately 6 - 18 yrs)
Any person that is older than that is welcome to join Scouting as a Adult Leader or a Rover (18 - 26 Year Olds)
Scouting Program is based around the following:
The Scouting program is based around a National based Program which means all Scouts within New Zealand are working on the same theme.

Term 1 2012 is Way to go H20
Term 2 2012 is Our Place Our Space
Term 3 2012 is 105
Term 4 2012 is Pass it Forward

Sections in Scouting

Keas School Year 1 - 3  
Cubs School Year 3 - 6  
Scouts School Year 6 - 10  
Venturers School Year 10 - 13  
  14.5 - 18 Year olds
Rovers 18 - 26 Year olds

Adults in Scouting

Potential adult leaders require recommendation by the Group Committee representing the parents, local referees and a police check.
They then undergo a probationary period which includes basic training before a warrant is issued.


Scouting is based on the Scout Promise and Law / Code of Conduct.
